The following presbytery was present: Mr. J.M Harris, J.R. Annas, D.L. Miller, L.M. Annas and P.H. Icenhour, with Mr. J.L. Crump, J.R. Barber and L.G. Kirby, deacons of Sardis Baptist.   The church received by letter Mr. W.O. Bumgarner and wife Joanna, Sarah Bumgarner, Laura Mitcham, Hailey Harris, A.P. Harris and wife Catherine, Julia and Dovie Mitcham, J. R. Smith and wife Margaret. the church was then turned over to these capable members. These members adopted the Hissax Standard Manual and then received the following who had been baptized into the fellowship: Mr. A.J. Bumgarner and wife Martha, L.L. Bumgarner, Anna Barer, Joe Bumgarner and Maudie Goble.   Rev. J.M. Harris was unanimously called as pastor and four deacons were ordained. these were Joe Bumgarner, A.P. Harris, W.O. Bumgarner and A.J. Bumgarner.   Center Grove Baptist Church was organized in the school house, near the present church in the year 1912. The school was used until 1918 when the frame structure was erected; it served until 1950 when the present structure was erected. The educational building was erected in 1959.   Center Grove Baptist church Mission was organized in June 1959 in a dwelling house near the present church. On July 2, 1961 the Mission had its first service in the new building (now Mount Carmel Baptist Church). The new building consisted of an assembly and nine classrooms.   The Center Grove Parsonage was built in 1957. A new parsonage was built in 1977.       The WMU was organized in February 1938. The Brotherhood (now Baptist Men) was organized in 1952.   The church has had an active Sunday School and church training programs under the leaderships of very capable directors, also good Vacation Bible Schools and now the GROW Program.
